Realistically, under 100 boxes the unit cost is high enough that a branded sticker on a plain box often makes more financial sense — we'll tell you that honestly rather than just take the order. Most UK bakeries start at 100–500 units. At 500 boxes you're at £1.43 each, and the economics of custom print start making strong sense.
Are your cake boxes food-safe?
Yes — with full documentation. All our board and inks comply with retained EU Regulation 1935/2004 on materials and articles in contact with food. This is a legal requirement in the UK, not a nice-to-have. We have every certificate ready within the hour if trading standards come calling, and we'll include the documentation with your order on request. Non-negotiable for us.
Can cake boxes be recycled?

What board weight do I need for a heavy wedding cake?
For cakes under 2kg: 350gsm is sufficient. 2–4kg: move to 400gsm — the base needs to hold under pressure during transport. Over 4kg, or any tiered cake: rigid 2mm greyboard with a crash-lock reinforced base. We had a customer try 350gsm under a 4-tier wedding cake. Once. The conversation about board weight takes 3 minutes on the phone and prevents a very expensive mistake.
Can I order plain cake boxes without printing?
Yes. Plain white and plain kraft in all standard sizes, available immediately. Many UK bakeries run plain boxes with a custom sticker while they validate a new product or design. Smart approach — we recommend it. When your monthly volume hits 250–300 boxes and you're confident in your design, full custom print typically pays back within 2–3 orders. We'll tell you exactly when the switch makes financial sense.
Do you offer cupcake inserts?
Yes — cupcake inserts in 1, 4, 6, and 12 count configurations. All can be custom-printed to match your box design. Inserts are priced separately: typically £0.08–0.32 per insert depending on count and print requirements. A 6-count insert with full CMYK print runs approximately £0.22 each at 500 quantity. Worth every penny if your cupcakes are travelling more than 20 minutes.
What happens if my boxes arrive damaged or incorrect?
