The 12-cavity and 24-cavity boxes carry a mandatory board weight requirement. 400gsm for 12-cavity, 450gsm for 24-cavity. A 12-cavity box filled weighs approximately 1.5 to 2kg. A 350gsm base panel bows at corners under that weight. We specify 400gsm as standard on every 12-cavity order and will tell you if you have specified the wrong board weight.
Box Height: The Specification Nobody Asks About Until the Frosting Is Crushed
Standard cupcake boxes are 100mm in height. A cupcake with a buttercream swirl at 80mm on a 60mm base equals 140mm total. A 100mm box crushes the decoration before the lid closes. Available heights: 80mm minimal, 100mm standard, 120mm tall piped swirls, 130mm sculpted decoration with toppers.
